Review Schedule overlap warnings

Resolve timing conflicts, confirm intentional overlaps, and understand the limits of checking.

CareMap warns when proposed work overlaps active scheduled work for the same selected person.

Resolve a warning

  1. Read the overlap warning after attempting to save.
  2. Review the person's name, affected work, and times shown.
  3. Change the person or timing when the overlap is unintended, or cancel.
  4. If the overlap is intentional, continue to Options.
  5. Choose Save with overlap or Save series with overlap when offered.
  6. Inspect the saved work in Schedule.

An override allows the proposed overlap. It does not cancel, move, or complete the other schedules. The override is recorded in activity auditing.

For a multi-client result, Save blocked overlaps retries the conflict rows from the most recent result. Read partial-batch guidance before repeating a save.

Understand what is checked

Overlap checking compares schedules for the same explicitly selected person. It can consider that person's schedules beyond the current calendar view, including another workspace.

It excludes Done and skipped occurrences. Rescheduled occurrences use their effective times. When no End is set, the check treats an item as one minute long. An item ending exactly when the next starts is not an overlap.

The check does not detect every kind of competing work. It does not compare Me items without a selected person, assignment due items, or an external calendar. A save without a warning is not proof that the person is free.

Open-ended recurrence is checked within a bounded future window, currently 370 days from its first start. Projection limits also apply; a successful save does not guarantee an unlimited series can never overlap future work.

Read warning times carefully

The warning lists examples, not necessarily every conflict. Its total can be larger than the displayed list. Warning times use your device's local timezone, which can differ from the timezone shown on the schedule itself.

If an example is outside your current view or unavailable to open, coordinate with someone who manages that work. Clearing calendar filters does not remove the underlying overlap.

The shorter Guide-editor scheduling dialog does not offer the same overlap confirmation controls. Use Schedule content in Schedule when you need to review and intentionally confirm an overlap.

A warning that another editor changed the schedule is a different condition. Use Load latest recovery rather than an overlap override.
