Recover a Note save conflict

Review the latest revision, preserve your draft, reconcile edits, and retry without assuming an automatic merge.

If another revision was saved while you were editing, CareMap keeps your draft and asks you to review the latest version. Saving a Note creates a complete new revision; it does not automatically merge two people's edits.

Reconcile your draft

  1. Keep the editor open when Another edit was saved. Your draft is still here. appears.
  2. Select Copy draft if you want a separate text backup. If copying fails, select and copy the Draft backup text directly.
  3. Select Review latest revision.
  4. Compare the latest title, body, subject date, author, and attachments with your draft.
  5. Reconcile the changes, then select I reconciled my draft — continue editing.
  6. Make any remaining edits and review Access. Sharing choices reset to the latest saved settings when you continue.
  7. Select Save new revision when your complete draft is ready.

Loading the latest revision does not replace your draft. The continue button acknowledges that you have reviewed it; it does not merge content for you. If another revision is saved before your next save, you may need to review again.

Understand the backup

Copy draft copies a structured text backup of the current content and metadata. It includes selected filenames, not the file bytes. Those selected files remain available in the open editor during the conflict.

This differs from Saved drafts, which can retain local file copies when the backup succeeds. Keep the editor open until you have saved or deliberately preserved the work.

Handle other failures

If the latest revision cannot load, retry Review latest revision; your draft remains unchanged. If the Note is archived or you no longer have edit access, continuing is unavailable. Follow the access message; retained local content does not grant permission to save.

A content save and a sharing update are separate steps. An error after content saved does not necessarily mean the revision failed. Retrying the same draft can reuse an acknowledged save rather than creating an identical revision. After an uncertain connection failure, check the current Note before starting another one.

A failed ordinary save leaves the editor available for correction or retry. Do not use Discard changes as a recovery action unless you intend to abandon the draft. See creating and editing Notes.
