Download Library files

Save the original Library file and distinguish browser handoff from a completed save.

Download retrieves a Library file's stored original. It does not export a Guide, fill a Form, or prove that the file is ready for AI search.

Save a file

  1. Open Library and locate the file.
  2. Select its Download control. In List view, selecting the available file name also starts the download.
  3. Complete the download or save flow for your platform.
  4. Check the saved file before leaving CareMap.

You need access to view the containing folder. Edit access is not required. A file still uploading or not yet ready to read may not offer Download.

Renaming a Library item changes its display name. The downloaded original uses its original filename, which can differ from that display name.

What happens on each platform

  • Web: CareMap hands the attachment to the browser's download manager. Check the browser's Downloads list and destination folder. Starting the download is not proof that the browser saved it.
  • Desktop app: choose a location in the Save dialog. Canceling leaves no saved file from that attempt.
  • Mobile app: choose an appropriate destination from the device share sheet. A completed share action does not prove that another app retained or delivered the file; check the selected destination.

You can download the original while optional AI preparation is unfinished or failed, provided the original is available and your access allows it.

If the download fails

Read the visible message:

  • Sign in again: the session is no longer authorized.
  • No longer have access: ask the folder owner to review sharing.
  • No longer available: refresh Library; the item may have been removed.
  • Not ready to download: allow the upload or preparation required for reading to finish, then retry.
  • Could not be downloaded: reconnect and try the Download action again.

Start a fresh download from Library instead of reusing an old temporary link. On web, also check whether the browser blocked or canceled the download.

For portable authored content, use Guide and Form package exports.
