Guide videos with autoplay and looping

A Video Media block plays an uploaded file, reusable video, or supported YouTube/Vimeo embed on a Guide page. You need Guide editing access.

Add a video

1. Add or edit a Media block and choose Video.
2. Choose a source:
   • Choose video opens a device file picker. Select an MP4, MOV, or WebM file up to 50 MB (50,000,000 bytes).
   • Other video sources > Choose from this guide opens the reusable-media picker.
   • Other video sources > Embed accepts a YouTube or Vimeo video link. Check the detected provider and preview, then select Use embedded video.
3. Add a Video caption with any written context the player needs.
4. Set the Playback choices.
5. Wait for any upload to finish, then Save block.
6. For uploaded media, wait for Video ready, then test Guide Preview.

You can drop one supported file onto the video area. Despite its label, Choose from this guide can include eligible media from other readable folders; check the scope displayed on each result.

An embed must identify a specific video. CareMap recognizes supported YouTube watch, share, Shorts, live, and embed links, and Vimeo video links. Detection does not prove that the provider permits playback. Use the preview to check. Pasting a link is not a way to configure a playlist or a playback start time.

Set playback behavior

• Auto-play on page entry requests playback during page entry. When automatic page narration is active, CareMap coordinates video playback with narration, so it may not begin immediately.
• Loop video restarts it after the end. During automatic narration, CareMap can finish a first play before continuing narration and resuming the authored loop.
• Muted starts video without sound.

These choices are off for a new video block. The Block Editor's preview does not autoplay; use Guide Preview to test entry behavior. Manually speaking the page is not the same as automatically entering it.

If Automatic playback was blocked appears, use the video's play control. Leaving the page stops its playback. Test transitions as well as the video itself, especially with looping or page timers.

What players see

Uploaded video uses browser/device controls for playing, pausing, seeking, and sound. Fullscreen availability depends on the platform. Embedded videos use their provider's controls. The Video caption is written supporting text; it does not create timed subtitles inside the video.

YouTube and Vimeo require an internet connection, including in an offline Guide. Private, removed, password-protected, or embedding-disabled videos may be unavailable. Use Open on YouTube or Open on Vimeo when offered. Some YouTube errors also offer Try again.

Replace, remove, or recover

Use Replace video file for another local file or Change video source / Other video sources for a reusable video or embed. Remove video clears the source when the block is saved. Review the caption and Playback choices after replacement.

For a rejected file, check its format and size. For failed processing or a missing asset, choose a replacement. If an embed fails, verify its availability with the provider or choose another source.
