Record, submit, and replace audio
Review microphone recordings or uploaded audio, explicitly submit them, and recover without discarding an earlier response.
An Audio Recording response has a review step before it becomes a saved Guide answer. You can record with the microphone or choose an existing audio file.
Record or choose audio
- Select Audio Recording if the Field offers several methods.
- Select Start recording and allow microphone access.
- Speak, then select Stop recording. Capture also stops at five minutes.
- Play the review clip to check it. Record again starts a replacement; Cancel abandons the review.
- Select Submit recording.
- Wait for Submitted recording, processing, or the configured next action.
To use a file, choose Upload audio instead of Start recording, then follow the same review and submission steps. Files must be non-empty, playable here, and at most 50 MB. See audio setup and limits.
Cancel recording discards a live capture. Leaving an active capture stops it; it does not create an answer in the background. Stop, review, and submit before leaving.
Understand review and acceptance
Recording, choosing a file, and listening to it are local review steps. They do not upload the clip, save an answer, satisfy a required Field, or run a follow-up action.
Submit recording becomes available after the review player loads the audio. Play it yourself to confirm that it contains the intended answer. Submission uploads and saves it, then an authored action can run under its configured timing.
If Done with response is offered after the media is ready, it returns to the method chooser. A submitted recording restored later does not automatically resubmit or replay its action.
Replace or remove a response
From a submitted answer, open Change:
- Re-record starts microphone capture for a replacement.
- Upload replacement selects a different audio file.
- Remove recording clears this method's accepted response.
- Choose another response method, when available, keeps this answer and returns to the chooser.
During replacement review, Current submitted response remains the accepted answer. Cancel keeps it. A failed replacement submission also leaves it intact. Review and Submit recording accepts the new clip.
Removing a recording can leave a required Field unanswered. Other methods' saved responses are separate.
Recover from errors
For denied microphone permission, allow access in browser/app settings. For a missing input, connect or enable a microphone. For a busy input, close other recording apps and retry, or use Upload audio.
If the review player cannot play the clip, Cancel and choose another file or Record again. Submit stays unavailable; renaming an unsupported file does not make it playable.
After a submission failure, select Retry submission. The review clip stays available, and a successfully prepared upload is reused. If a submitted clip later reports processing failure, use Change to record or upload a replacement.
Included Reports contain accepted answers, not review drafts. Check session synchronization if an answer is accepted locally but not synchronized. Preview practice stays out of the Reports inbox.
