Platform differences
Understand when a CareMap feature differs across web, desktop, and mobile.
CareMap keeps your workspace content with your account, so Guides, Forms, Courses, Reports, People, Schedule, Catalog, and Agent work follow you across web, desktop, and mobile when you sign in with the same access.
Most differences are about layout, device storage, and the features your device or browser allows.
Web
Use the web app when you want the standard CareMap experience in a browser. Downloads, uploads, camera access, notifications, and Help links use the browser's normal permission prompts and download behavior.
The web app is also the best fallback when a packaged desktop or mobile feature is temporarily unavailable on a device.
Desktop
The desktop app uses the same CareMap workspace and content as the web app, but it can use desktop-friendly system behavior. For example, file exports may open a system save dialog, local notifications can use desktop notification support, and the sidebar can show a desktop update control such as Check for updates.
If the desktop app asks you to save or discard CareMap edits before closing, finish the edit first so local work is not interrupted.
Mobile
Mobile uses the same features with phone- and tablet-friendly navigation. The bottom navigation keeps the most common destinations close by, and More contains additional destinations, Help, Account, Settings, and workspace controls. You can customize the mobile toolbar from Settings.
Some mobile actions depend on device permissions. Camera or photo answers, speech capture, mobile notifications, and shared-device QR scanning may ask for permission before they work.
Offline and device-local behavior
Most CareMap work needs a connection so the app can save to the current workspace and enforce access rules. Supported offline features are saved on the device you prepare them on.
- In a Guide's actions menu, use Prepare offline to save a supported Guide package on the current device.
- Use Refresh offline when a package is stale, partial, or needs updated content.
- In Settings > Mobile & Offline, review Session Sync, Offline Packages, and Native Readiness for this device.
Offline packages and recoverable guide session changes do not automatically appear on your other devices. Prepare or refresh them separately where you need them.
When something differs or is unavailable
- Confirm you are signed in to the right account and workspace.
- Check whether the action is hidden because your access is read-only.
- Allow any browser or device permission prompt that matches the action you are trying to use.
- In Settings > Mobile & Offline, check this device's offline package, session sync, and native readiness status.
- If a packaged desktop or mobile feature is not available, try the web app while you update the app or device permissions.
