Status meanings

Understand common ready, processing, failed, expired, active, and read-only states.

CareMap uses status labels to show whether an item is available, still changing, or needs attention. The actions available beside a status depend on the item and your access.

Common statuses

  • Ready means preparation is complete and the item can be used. For example, uploaded media may become ready after CareMap finishes preparing it.
  • Processing means CareMap is still preparing or updating something. Queued and Pending are similar waiting states. Allow the work time to finish before trying the result again.
  • Failed means the most recent action or background task did not finish successfully. Open the item for any visible explanation, then use Retry when that action is offered.
  • Expired means a time-limited item is no longer current. Invitations, certificates, and other dated items may offer a replacement, renewal, recertification, or resend action.
  • Active means the item is current and in effect. It does not necessarily mean that the item is open on your screen or that everyone can edit it.
  • Read only means you can view the item but cannot change it. Editing, sharing, moving, or management actions may be hidden or unavailable.

When a status does not change

  1. Confirm that you are viewing the intended workspace and item.
  2. Refresh or reopen the item after allowing time for pending work to finish.
  3. Use the visible Retry, replacement, renewal, or resend action when one is available.
  4. If the item is read only, ask its owner or a workspace manager for the access you need.
  5. If a failed or processing state continues, share the item name and visible message with your administrator or CareMap support.

A status describes the current state; it does not grant additional permission. The same labels and meanings apply across CareMap on web, desktop, and mobile, although the actions shown can vary with your role and the type of item.
