Shared devices
Register, review, and revoke organization-managed shared devices.
Shared devices let people use organization-issued magic keys on a device that the organization controls. A device registration and a magic key must belong to the same organization. Registering a device does not give it access by itself.
Organization owners, managers, and CareMap administrators can manage the device list. A magic key never grants device-management access.
Register a shared device
- Open the organization and select Devices. In an administrator's organization record, Devices is under Access.
- Select Register This Device. CareMap creates a pending device and opens Register shared device with a QR code and one-time registration code.
- Complete registration in one of these ways:
- To register the device you are using, select Register This Device in the dialog.
- To register another device, open CareMap's sign-in screen on that device, select Open device settings, then scan the QR code or paste the code or registration URL. Select Register device.
- Return to Devices and confirm its status is active.
The registration code expires after 24 hours and works only once. Treat the QR code, URL, and code as private. If the code expires, is lost, or was already used, revoke the pending or expired entry and create a new registration. Do not reuse one registration for multiple devices.
Sign in on a shared device
After registration, the sign-in screen offers Magic key. Enter the organization-issued value in Magic key or URL, then select Sign in. CareMap rejects a key issued by a different organization, an inactive key, or a key for a client who is no longer assigned to the organization.
Magic keys are managed separately from device registrations in the organization's Clients area. A client must be linked to a CareMap account before an owner or administrator can create a magic key for them.
Review or remove a device
The Devices list shows each device's label, status, creation and registration times, and Last seen time. Use Search devices to find an entry. Pending means registration has not finished; expired means its one-time code timed out; revoked means it can no longer support magic-key sign-in.
To remove organization approval, select Revoke beside the device. On the device itself, Open device settings shows its organization and device ID; select Unregister this device to revoke that registration from the device. Either action requires a new registration before Magic key can be used there again.
If registration or sign-in fails
- Confirm the device entry is active, the magic key is active, and both belong to the same organization.
- If Magic key is hidden, open Device Settings. A Not registered result means the device needs a fresh registration.
- If a code is invalid or expired, create a new registration instead of retrying the old code.
- If the wrong device was registered, revoke it immediately and register the intended device with a new code.
